The scenery around Clifden is simply majestic, featuring the rugged Atlantic coastline and the towering Twelve Bens. There are many beaches within easy reach and some of the drives and walks are breathtaking. There is excellent trout and salmon fishing in the area and the sea angler is also well catered for. The town has many hotels, restaurants and bars and the famous Connemara golf course is only a short drive away.

Cong Office

Cong, Co. Mayo, is rightly regarded as one of Ireland's leading tourist villages. Apart from the outstanding beauty of the surrounding countryside, the area is steeped in history. The Cross of Cong is a national treasure and the old abbey provided a final refuge for Ireland's last king. It was here in earlier times the Fir Bolg battled it out with the Tuatha De Danann, and in more recent times Captain Boycott's difficulties resulted in a new word in the English language.

Cong was the location for John Wayne's film "The Quiet Man" and aficionados still come in droves to see where John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara had their trysts. The village is strategically situated between Lough Corrib and Lough Mask, with their salmon and trout fishing and many a visiting angler has decided to have a home in this fisherman's paradise. There are many fine hotels such as the world Renowned Ashford Castle and the newly opened Lisloughrey Lodge, bars and restaurants in the area.
